BOOKS & MAPS

REQUIRED FOR THE SERIOUS HUNTER!

note: many of these books are getting hard to find, and in another few years I'd expect they will not be available at all. I use the DeLorme atlases (below the book section -- scroll down) for my backcountry travel, and points in the site are direct references and gps reads from their maps and mapping software. How anyone can expect to navigate the backcountry without a DeLorme guide, I can't fathom, because they show all the jeep trails, trails, springs, landing strips, old fort sites, contour etc., etc. When I'm in the backcountry flying strips, I entrust my life to them!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:

Marx, Robert F. SHIPWRECKS IN FLORIDA WATERS: A billion dollar graveyard. Mickler House Publishers, Dec. 1986, 147 pages. (Just the Fla. wrecks and tips from "Shipwrecks in the Americas.")

Marx, Robert F. SHIPWRECKS IN THE AMERICAS Dover Pub., Nov. 1987, 444 pages. (This is his excellent comprehensive work on all the shipwrecks in N & S hemispheres)

SCOTT, THOMAS A. HISTORIES AND MYSTERIES: The Shipwrecks of Key Largo. Best Publications, Jan., 1999

Rinehart, L. CAPTAINS GUIDE TO WRECKS AND REEFS. L.T. Rinehart, Jan. 1993

Berg, Daniel & Denise FLORIDA SHIPWRECKS: The Divers Guide to Shipwrecks around the State of Florida and the Florida Keys. Aqua Explorers, April, 1992.

FREITAG, NORBERT, et al SHIPWRECKS UNFORGOTTEN: From New Jersey to the Gulf of Florida. Finley-Greene, August 1998.

MONDANO, MARK R. DIVERS GUIDE TO SHIPWRECKS: Cape Canaveral to Jupiter Light. Sandman Pubs., Jan. 1991

SOUZA, DONNA J. THE PERSISTENCE OF SAIL IN THE AGE OF STEAM: Underwater Archaeological Evidence from the Dry Tortugas. Perseus Publishing, Nov. 1998.

MARX, ROBERT F. BURIED TREASURES YOU CAN FIND: Over 7500 Locations in all 50 States. Ram Publications, June, 1995. (some GREAT info here)

DeLorme Atlases for every state!

(but in no particular order)

These atlases give you topo maps of the entire state, public lands, back roads, jeep trails, wilderness trails, gps co-ordinates, and pinpoint many historical sites. The best I've seen so far, CLICK YOUR OWN STATE TO VIEW IT. I lean on them heavily in bringing my info to you.
